Martha Jefferson Hospital wants to remind everyone about its outpatient pharmacy.
The pharmacy is located in the gift shop in the hospital and is open to discharged patients, cancer center patients, E.R. patients and patients that are there for an appointment with a specialist.
The outpatient pharmacy takes most insurances.
Employees say having the outpatient pharmacy on site is an added convenience for their patients.
"It's really convenient for the discharged patients so that the nurses can send them (the prescriptions) down the tube. We can fill them and they can have them ready," said Joan Hartzler, Pharmacy Manager, MJH Outpatient Pharmacy.
"They feel very relieved that they can pick up prescriptions and go home and not have to worry about making a stop. They can go home with their family and get better," said Gena Harris, Certified Pharmacy Technician, Martha Jefferson Outpatient Pharmacy.
If a patient needs a refill, the prescription is typically transferred to the patient's regular pharmacy. If they continue to see a doctor there, it can be refilled at the outpatient pharmacy.
The pharmacy is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
