Emmet Street, also known as Route 29 Business, will be closed overnight on June 17 and 18 as work continues on the McCormick Road bridge project at the University of Virginia.
The closure, occurring Monday and Tuesday night from 9 PM to 6 AM, will allow the Virginia Department of Transportation and contractor Corman Construction Inc. to install the new bridge’s beams.
The McCormick Road bridge project began on May 20 and is scheduled to finish in late July. The project involves replacing the superstructure of the aged bridge, which had been posted with an eight-ton weight limit.
