RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A health fair at Virginia State University provided free dental care to more than 500 people.
Nearly 500 volunteer dentists, dental hygienists and dental students participated in Saturday's VSU Cares program.
Virginia State nursing professor Karen Faison served as coordinator of the event. She tells the Richmond Times-Dispatch that it's an opportunity to help the community during hard times.
The program is part of the Virginia Dental Association Foundation's Mission of Mercy.
It also provided screenings for hearing, sight, breast cancer and high blood pressure.
