One day after the former investigator in the Morgan Harrington case releases a letter pleading for information, Morgan's parents react to the unusual move.
"I think it speaks to his passion for the case and to find justice and compassion," says Gil Harrington, Morgan's mother. "You also wonder why now? Well for us it's three years, it's been long enough, this is a holiday season we're entering and we still have a gaping hole at our holiday table."
Gil and Dan Harrington say they did not know the letter would be released, but approve of the tactic.
Morgan's parents have not shied away from the media spotlight since her their daughter's murder. They are behind the effort called "Save The Next Girl", which is designed to empower women and encourage community Vigilance.
Morgan Harrington was murdered in October 2009. The case is unsolved.
