CORRUPTION TRIAL OF FORMER VIRGINIA GOVERNOR:
Former Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell testified today about asking Jonnie Williams for several loans. He said Williams had told him that if he needed more money, he should just ask. McDonnell says there was nothing inappropriate about the loans.
STUDENTS GET TABLET UPGRADES:
Walker Upper Elementary School is part of a pilot program to try out new tablets with faster software. The upgrade is part of the Charlottesville City School Blast Program, which puts tablets in the hands of over 2,000 middle and high school students.
BODY CAMERAS ON POLICE OFFICERS:
A national outcry is asking to outfit police officers with body cams. In Charlottesville, a petition is circulating in favor of the measure. Charlottesville Police Chief Tim Longo says city police have put in a request to see how much the body cameras would cost.
SENATE DEBATE DATES AGREED UPON:
Virginia Senator Mark Warner has agreed to appear in eight public forums with Republican rival Ed Gillespie. Two of the debates will be televised. The first debate is in Fairfax on October 7th, and the second is on October 13th in Richmond.
UVA FIRST-YEAR MOVING ONTO GROUNDS:
Friday was the first move-in day for University of Virginia first-years. Classes at U.Va. are set to start on Tuesday. For people concerned about traffic, Saturday's move in hours are from 8 AM to 4 PM.
