The Albemarle County Clerk's Office is offering residents a new service to help protect from property fraud.
The program, Property Check, alerts residents if any property is recorded under their name in Albemarle County.
All you have to do is go to the website and register your name. Then, if anything is recorded with your name, it will send you an alert by text message or email.
Albemarle Co. Clerk Debbie Shipp says it's an easy way to keep you from being a victim of fraud.
"We have people come in sometimes that have judgments against them that never even knew that they had a judgment,” says Shipp. “So any time something's recorded under their name, then they would be alerted to that, and they could check on it.”
The service launches in about two weeks. Click on the link on the right to register for the program.
