The public is getting a first look at proposed plans for the site of a former gas station in the Barracks Road Shopping Center.
The plans went before the Charlottesville Planning Commission on Tuesday. They call for a new building on Emmet Street containing four retail spaces, including some restaurants, on the 22-acre site.
The former Shell gas station, which closed earlier this year, would be demolished.
City staff says the project helps to make Emmet Street more of an urban boulevard and encourages more development in the future.
