ROANOKE, Va. (AP) - The Very Rev. Mark Bourlakas has been ordained as bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Southwestern Virginia.
Bourlakas succeeds Bishop Neff Powell, who stepped down after serving for 17 years.
The Roanoke Times (http://bit.ly/13OjDJs ) reports that Bourlakas was ordained and consecrated as the diocese's sixth bishop on Saturday at the Roanoke Performing Arts Theatre.
He previously served as dean of Christ Church Cathedral in Louisville, Ky.
