Obama Supporters Pick Up Bruce Springsteen Tickets

October 21, 2012

Mutli-platinum rock singer Bruce Springsteen is coming to Charlottesville Tuesday to perform a free concert at the Obama for America rally.

Obama supporters and Springsteen fans waited Sunday afternoon for tickets at the Obama campaign office on the Downtown Mall.

"I heard it this morning about 9 o'clock. I figured I had to get in here right away because the tickets would go fast," said Obama supporter Al Quise.

Hundreds of tickets were given out in the first hour. Springsteen is set to perform at the nTelos Wireless Pavilion Tuesday afternoon. The doors open at 2 p.m.

"I heard one guy say he want to show his kid real rock and roll," said campaign volunteer Haley Arata.

"I think it’s wonderful that he would go out of his way to come to Charlottesville to do this," said Jenny Nowlen, an Obama supporter.

Democratic supporters say they are confident in the president's re-election bid, despite poll numbers showing Republican challenger Mitt Romney gaining some ground.

"I feel really excited about the election. I think the momentum is OK for the Obama campaign. I just support him a hundred percent," Quise said.

The free concert comes before Springsteen's previously scheduled show at the John Paul Jones Arena on Tuesday night.
