The oldest swimming pool on the East Coast and third-oldest in the country turns 100 years old this summer.

It's the Blue Ridge Swim Club in Ivy. It was built in 1913 by R. Warner Wood, a graduate of UVa., and was kept up ever since by its owner and members.

The pool is tucked away in wooded area, and the water is pumped in by the water system, which means it is always very cold.

It's 100 yards long with only a maximum of 30 or so people that show up on the weekends, but the owner says it's the lazy, quiet atmosphere that members love.

"The people who are members here love the place and are very attached to it. So it's definitely been a community I've become a part of and to help guide and it's been a wonderful thing," said Blue Ridge Swim Club owner Todd Barnett.

Barnett has owned the pool for three summers now and invites more people to visit the natural pool treasure that is now 100 years old.

Folklore claims that a Panama Canal engineer helped design the pool.
