The Charlottesville Area Community Foundation (CACF) announces Give4Good, an online donation campaign, raised over $500,000 from more than 3,800 gifts for local non-profit organizations.
Online giving began at midnight on GiveGreaterCville.org on Tuesday, May 6, and ended at 11:59 pm that night.
Donations from our area will benefit more than 140 area nonprofits.
CACF sponsored the event as part of Give Local America, a national day of giving to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Community Foundations.
The foundation worked with local donors and businesses to fund a $32,000 grant pool of incentives for participating organizations, to encourage broad giving. The more donations an organization received, the more likely the nonprofit was to receive one of the many bonus grants available.
CACF President Anne Scott explained, “CACF’s goal for this online day of giving was $250,000. We were overwhelmed by the community’s generosity. The give total of half a million dollars reflects the tremendous investment that our community makes in the work of our important nonprofits.”
This was the first year of the Give4Good fundraising campaign.
