PVCC Considering Armed Police Security for Campus

May 16, 2013

Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is in the process of moving forward with implementing their own police force.

PVCC officials say they're "seriously looking into" adding certified, armed police officers to be on patrol during core campus hours. The community college currently has 24-hour security.

Twelve community colleges in Virginia have added some form of police force to their existing security.

PVCC has been surveying students to get their input.

The college will have to seek approval from the State College Board if they decide to move forward with the plan.

Police presence could be implemented sometime next year.
