PVCC Officials Pleased with How Campus Threat was Handled

Sept. 24, 2013

Officials at Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) are pleased with how Monday's bomb threat on campus was handled.

The main campus was evacuated yesterday afternoon, after three teachers received bomb threats by email. PVCC President Frank Friedman says all 1,500 people on campus got out within an hour. Then, police officers with bomb-sniffing dogs were able to come in to search the campus.

Friedman says he thinks everyone implemented the school's emergency plan very well, but they are still talking about ways they can improve.

"Things went extremely well yesterday, but we still can learn from the incident and do better next time, if there is a next time, which we obviously hope there won't be."

There is no word on who is responsible for the bomb threat. Police are still investigating.
