People got a chance to chow down on a few hot cakes before the parade at the 10th annual Dogwood Pancake Breakfast.

It was sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Charlottesville. For five dollars you could get a plate full of pancakes and sausage.

The proceeds went to the Children Youth and Family Services (CYFS).

“It's one of the agencies that Kiwanis has been supporting for the entire 90 years of its existence,” says Jim Hart, past president of the Kiwanis Club of Charlottesville. “So we are just so happy to partner with them and support the activities that they do.”

The Monticello Garden Club also held a yard sale outside of the church to help raise money.

Last year the event brought in $5,000.
