People filled The Paramount Theater Sunday afternoon for a viewing of The General.
The classic Civil War film was shown as part of a Memorial Day weekend event put on by ParadeRest. Buster Keaton's The General is a silent film, but movie goers were treated to a live musical accompaniment.
Before the film, the audience heard from guest speaker LTG Joe Inge, film historian Rick Britton and got a musical introduction by Matt Marshall.
ParadeRest is a Charlottesville-based non-profit organization that serves military members and military families in the Commonwealth.
This is the second year ParadeRest has hosted a free Memorial Day weekend event.
Local veteran and military organizations set up informational tables inside the theater and Civil War reenactors greeted the crowd at the door.
