Pizza Business Prepares For Snow, Too

Kids were home from school, some people left work early and not many people wanted to leave home on Thursday night because of the weather. A few people, however, were getting ready to be at work and on the roads all night.

"I started staffing up, I was prepared. I had four drivers here, three people here inside the shop including myself. We were ready to go," said Mike Goodman, the manager of Papa John's on Rio Road.

Goodman says weather has a big impact on business for their pizza shop. And when everyone was expecting a decent amount of snow on Thursday, a busy night means dishing out possibly 200 pizzas.

"We're normally really busy and stay really busy but 2 years ago with that big storm, we were the only ones making deliveries. Everyone else was shut down. The whole city was shut down," Goodman said.

There was a rush of orders around 4:30 p.m. Thursday when big flakes started coming down but as it turned to rain.

"The rain picked up and knocked some of the snow out and now tonight, we thought it was going to be this big storm and now we're here with nothing to do," he said.

He says even though it didn't turn out to be the busiest night, all you can do is be prepared. He says he'll be looking forward to the Superbowl for the next busy night.

"You win some you lose some. We didn't get the type of business we were hoping for, it could've been a lot better but we were prepared for it."
