Albemarle County Police will be out in full force for New Years Eve, on the look out for drunk drivers.
Officials say the number of fatal accidents in 2012 compared to the year before are down, but they warn tonight is a notoriously dangerous night on the roads. Carter Johnson with the Albemarle County Police is asking everyone to celebrate responsibly.
"Tonight is a big party night and lots of people are drinking and we just hope they are drinking responsibly and not out on the roads because it is a very dangerous night for drivers. We will have officers and patrols out so we want to make sure everyone stays safe throughout the holiday and we start 2013 out on a positive note."
Police suggest making plans to get home before you leave the house.
