A natural gas pipeline proposed for Central Virginia is off the table, for now.

Spectra Energy announced that it is suspending development work on the project.

The company will be analyzing other opportunities in the region, and this pipeline could be part of those plans.

A preliminary route had the pipeline through Madison, Orange, Louisa, and Fluvanna Counties on its way from Maryland to North Carolina.
