August is Virginia Craft Brewery Month, and that's worth raising your glass in Nelson County.
Devils Backbone Brewery played host to the second-annual Virginia Craft Brewers Festival. More than 30 breweries were represented at the event, all of which came from Virginia.
The event wasn't just fun for the drinkers; the brewers got to sample the competition, as well.
"A lot of unique stuff, a lot of cutting edge, if you want to use that term, a lot of different beers, and I think that's the best thing about craft beer right now is that there is no limit to what people are doing and it's a unique industry to be in right now," said Nate Olewine, a brewer with Devils Backbone.
Devils Backbone walked away with the "Best in Show" award for its smokehouse lager.
