One Day After Attack, Rashad Riddick Speaks Out

A courtroom was cleared after capital murder suspect Rashad Riddick attacked his attorney. Thursday afternoon, Riddick spoke out about the violence incident from behind bars.

CBS19's Frankie Jupiter sat down with Riddick Thursday afternoon. Our cameras were not allowed inside of the Central Virginia Regional Jail.

Riddick told Jupiter that he's tired and frustrated and simply wants his trial to go forward. He says his attorneys are trying to make a case that he's not competent to stand trial and he says that simply is not the case.

Riddick says he went under a psychological evaluation at the Central State Hospital, where doctors told him nothing was wrong with him and that he could stand trail.

His says his attorneys are telling the judge that he cannot stand trial.

Riddick says he no longer wants to work with his attorneys.

"I don't communicate with them. I don't trust them," said Riddick.

Riddick has been accused in the murders or James Clark Jackson, Karen Lee Jackson, and Chante Davis in February 2011. He's facing capital murder charges in connection with their deaths.

Riddick says when it comes to his attorneys, "I don't feel like they're trying to help."

When asked why he would attack his attorney Joseph Flood, Riddick responded with, "He’s hell bent on sabotaging anything possible to my defense."

Riddick says he still wants to represent himself in court.
