Residents Reviewing Cost of Extra Security After Neighborhood Robbery

June 21, 2013

Albemarle County Police continue to search for three men accused of robbing someone at gunpoint late Wednesday night.

It happened on Lakeview Drive, in the Four Seasons neighborhood.

The neighborhood association currently pays $5,000 every year for a private security firm to check the neighborhood a couple of times a day.

Some residents say, despite the recent robbery, the extra security may not be necessary.

"They feel that the responses by the County Police Department and possibly the Sheriff's Department would be sufficient," said Homeowner Association President Martha Wood. "The vast majority of people in this community do not feel insecure."

Police are investigating whether the Lakeview Drive robbery is connected to two other home invasions that happened this week in Charlottesville and Albemarle County.
