Restaurant Week Raises Over $12k for Non-Profit Organization

July 25, 2013

Money raised from the C-Ville Weekly's annual Restaurant Week event is donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Central Virginia.

On Thursday, the local paper presented a $12,867 check to the Boys and Girls Club. They say that's an all-time high for money raised during the dining event, and they more-than doubled their total from the last one.

Organizers say it is a great way to combine helping local businesses and helping a good cause.

"I don't think anybody in Charlottesville is really a stranger of going out to eat a couple times a week, and doing it for a donation situation really sort of heightened that situation," says C-Ville Weekly Publisher Frank Dubec.

Organizers hope to make the event even bigger next year.
