Robert O. "Bobby" Jones, a retired lieutenant with the Charlottesville Police Department, passed away Thursday. He was 72 years old.
Jones began his service to the community upon joining the police department in July 1964. He served as an officer, sergeant and as the evening shift lieutenant until his retirement in September 2001.
Speaking about his passing, Chief Tim Longo stated, “We are saddened by the loss of a dear friend and respected colleague. Bobby served our community with a tremendous amount of dedication and pride. In addition to his self-less service to our community, he was a mentor to so many officers over the years. He will truly be missed.”
Jones' family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9 at First Baptist Church on Park Street. Instead of flowers, the family is asking that contributions be made to the Fraternal Order of Police.

Sad Fact, you are so true. Kids now days that go into law enforcement are not the same. Their all about them selves and when do we get paid. Rest in peace brother Jones.
All the good honest cops are retiring and dying off. What they are being replaced with leaves a lot to be desired. Rest In Peace, Bobby!!!!
