Richmond Police Chase Ends in Arrest

February 17, 2013

A Goochland County man is facing numerous charges after a pursuit Sunday morning that ended in a crash on Interstate 95 in Richmond.

Virginia State Police say 30-year-old Mario Davis failed to stop for a state trooper who was attempting to pull him over. The trooper said Davis was driving 83 miles per hour in a 70-miles-per-hour zone.

Police say troopers pursued Davis on I-95 southbound when he lost control of his car and ran off the road, striking a guardrail. Davis' car then crossed back across the southbound lanes, hitting two state police cars.

Davis, who was not wearing his seatbelt, suffered minor injuries and was taken to the VCU Medical Center.

Police charged Davis with felony eluding police and possession of a firearm after being a convicted felon. He's also charged with misdemeanor obstruction of justice, driving on a suspended license, reckless driving by speed and failure to wear his safety belt.

Davis will be arraigned in the Richmond General District Court on Tuesday morning.
