Richmond Police Close File on 1995 Double Murder

August 25, 2013

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Richmond police say they've solved an 18-year-old double murder in Richmond.

Twenty-four-year-old David A. Jones and 22-year-old Eric Thomas Ellett were fatally shot inside a car in the city's east end in August 1995.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports cold case Detective Mark Williams used fingerprints found at the crime scene to track down a witness who then helped identify the suspect as Terrell John Bridy.

Williams says the 18-year-old Bridy was fatally shot three months after Jones and Ellett died.

Williams also says the man he suspects of killing Bridy is in federal prison serving two life terms in a racketeering case.
