Representative Robert Hurt (R, 5th District) was honored by the Virginia Industries for the Blind at their offices on Thursday, May 2.
He was presented with the AbilityOne Champion Award, which is given to elected policy makers who have supported the V.I.B or other related organizations.
"It is so important at a time when we have high unemployment, its hard for people to find work and of course there's some people in our society that have greater challenges in finding work than others." said Hurt of the challenges facing the visually impaired in our current economy.
"This is one of those things that is just a win, win,win all the way around."
Virginia Industries for the Blind is a group dedicated to empowering blind and visually impaired Virginians to get employed and develop their careers.
