The Virginia State Police, along with 5 other state police agencies are coming together for 'Operation Border to Border'.
The goal is to reduce crashes and crime along the Route 15 corridor between New York and South Carolina, 230 miles of which are in Virginia.
Every summer the road is heavily traveled by vacationers attempting to avoid congestion on the interstates, so for three days, between June 7 and June 9, all 6 state police agencies will be conducting saturation patrols, sobriety check points and other operations.
This is the first time all six state have coordinated their enforcement efforts on Route 15. Last year's program only included Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia, but this year South Carolina, North Carolina, and New York are on board.
During last year's operation, 509 speeders where stopped, 24 arrests were made, and no traffic fatalities occurred during the three day operation.
