As the Cavaliers and the Hokies gear up for the annual Commonwealth Cup Saturday in Blacksburg, one fraternity puts aside the state rivalry for a good cause.
Members of the Omicron Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta will run a ceremonial ball all the way to Lynchburg, where they will meet their brothers from Virginia Tech who will run the ball the rest of the way to Blacksburg.
The annual 158 mile, twenty hour process raises money for the Jimmy V. Foundation for Cancer Research.
Last year the UVa. and VT. chapters together raised over $48,000.
