The Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA is trying to find a home for all of its kittens this holiday season.

They hosted an event called Whisker Wonderland at Charlottesville's Fashion Square. The goal was to give people the opportunity to adopt a cat or kitten while out holiday shopping.

Each kitten was sold for $25 and each adult cat for $5. Kittens come fully-loaded with all their shots, tracking chips and updated paperwork.

Leslie Hervey is the executive director for the Charlottesville-Albermarle SPCA. She says kittens and cats make a great holiday gift.

"My best Christmases growing up were the ones where I got a pet," says Hervey. "Those were the ones that stand out in my mind."

Hervey says adopting a pet over the holiday doesn't just benefit the animal.

"It works both ways," she says. "You make this animals' Christmas and you make your family's Christmas."

If you missed Saturday's event but are still interested in adopting an animal, you can always go to your local SPCA for more information and adoption opportunities.
