Scottsville Woman Charged with Stealing Ambulance

A Scottsville woman is facing charges of stealing an ambulance from the University of Virginia.

UVa. Police have charged 45 year-old Laura Jean Aven with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Investigators say Aven took a Charlottesville Albemarle Rescue Squad ambulance shortly before 4:00 AM last Wednesday.

The ambulance was found a short time later at the intersection of Lee Street and Roosevelt Brown, unattended and the engine running.

Aven is currently being held without bond at the Albemarle Charlottesville Regional Jail.
