Senator Mark Warner is supporting Helen Dragas' reappointment to UVa's Board of Visitors. The Virginian Pilot reports that Warner has been calling on legislators in the General Assembly speaking on her behalf.
Democratic Senator Ralph Northam of Norfolk says he's also willing to give Dragas another chance.
"What happened and the way that all was handled was wrong, and I think she realizes that," said Northam.
However, Sen. Barbara Favola, Sen. Janet Howell and Delegate Steve Landes have all openly opposed Dragas' confirmation.
Dragas, along with two other members of the executive committee, tried to force President Teresa Sullivan's resignation last Summer.
Groups of UVa students, faculty, and alumni have organized efforts to have Helen Dragas removed from the Board of Visitors.
Over the last decade Dragas and her real estate development company have contributed over $10,000 to Warner's campaign.
