April 23, 2012

A convicted sex offender has been arrested and charged with breaking into a woman's apartment in Charlottesville.

Police say, around 2:45 AM on Thursday, Edwin Alexis Guzman broke in to a woman's apartment in the 1200-block of Wertland Street and went into her bedroom.

Police say the woman woke up, screamed and Guzman ran away.

He was arrested later that day after police say he tried to walk out on a bill on the UVa. Corner.

Court records indicate Guzman was convicted of solicitation of a minor in South Carolina in 2009.

Guzman is being held without bond.
