A supermarket sweep took place in Charlottesville Sunday night, all in the name of charity.
Patty Hughson won a 60-second shopping spree at Reid's Market on Preston Avenue as part of an American Cancer Society raffle. Instead of taking the groceries for herself, she's decided to donate everything in her cart to the local Meals on Wheels.
She zipped through the aisles at Reid's on Sunday night, packing in as many items as she could.
"That's exactly what I'm doing is hoping that I'm inspiring others to give from their heart as well as their wallet and to make something happen," Hughson said.
Hughson said her strategy was to aim for the canned foods aisle first.
In all, she loaded up groceries worth a final value of $361.59.
