Singers Helping Singers at Benefit Concert

June 2, 2013

A well-established choir helped an up-and-coming chorus on Sunday through song.

The Charlottesville Women's Chorus held a concert at the Haven. Proceeds benefited the Walker Upper Elementary School Chorus.

The church was packed, and about 20 of the kids were able to make it to the performance.

Their teacher said the event not only helps the kids do what they love now, but in the future as well.

"It's one of the things that I actually request whenever we do an event like this is that they stay for the whole performance so that they actually are really seeing what they can do in life, because music is a lifelong gift for all of us to share with one another," music teacher Virginia Hill said.

The concert was free, but they did ask for donations of $5 to $15.
