Bikers are often thought to be tough or hard, but one group in Louisa County is showing a softer side while raising money to help a sick child. In this week's Stephanie's Heroes, CBS19’s Stephanie Satchell is featuring the Blue Knights Motorcycle Club. The motorcycle club along with the Court Café and Pub is hosting the 2nd annual Evan Adams Memorial Benefit Ride.

The Court Café and Pub on Main Street will be busy on August 24th. People will pack the building to kick off the 2nd annual Evan Adams Memorial Benefit Ride.

It's an 80 mile motorcycle ride through Louisa County led by the Blue Knight Motorcycle Club.

“It's a sight to see when you have a bunch of motorcycles together all going down as a group…down the road. It’s just an interesting site to see, but it's very heartwarming to see all of these people come together,” said Jessica Adams, Mother of Evan Adams.

They’re coming together to remember Evan Adams. He was just 9-years-old when he got sick.

The motorcycle club held a benefit at the same pub in 2011 to raise money for his medical expenses which included travelling out of state for treatment.

“The benefit that they did for him, we used it (the money) to travel to New York for gas. It was a really big help to us because otherwise we wouldn't have been able to afford it,” said Jessica Adams.

Although, Evan lost his battle with his illness in 2012, his family and friends want to make sure that his memory lives on and helps other sick children.

“It's hard to really relate what the parents, families and children go through unless you're there and experiencing that. Small communities and a lot of communities in general, they give and they try and do something good for the community and I think this is one of the best ideas around,” said Maj. Donnie Lowe, Member, Blue Knights Motorcycle Club.

“Evan was one…he would help you regardless of anything. If he had it, he would give it to you even if he needed it himself. He was all about love and caring. So, that's the kind of thing that I'd like to keep going in his memory. People did it for him and I'd like to pay it forward.

The Evan Adams Memorial Benefit Ride will take place August 24, 2013. Registration starts at 9:00 am at the Court Cafe and Pub on Main Street.

Proceeds from this year's event will help a two-year-old Albemarle County boy.
