In this week's "Stephanie's Heroes," Francis Deane is going above and beyond to help out the theater. Many say he's more than just an actor with the Four County Players in Barboursville. He keeps the place going by volunteering his time and doing whatever he can to keep shows on the stage.

The stage may be empty now, but in just a few days the set will be transformed and ready for "A Christmas Carol."

"It's pretty magical. You start with a black hole. Everything is painted black and done down," said Francis Dean, Actor/Volunteer, Four County Players.

Francis Deane stepped up to lead the latest set design project after another volunteer stepped down.

People say he wears many hats at the Four County Players and he's part of the reason why they continue performing and putting on shows.

"He will jump in and do whatever he possibly can to help people and just his spirit is what's so great about Francis," said Gary Warwick-White, Actor, Four County Players.

Whether it's hanging decorations for the next performance, acting or building the set, he says it's important for him to volunteer and do his part to keep the arts alive.

"I do it because I love to do it. I love the people here," said Deane.

While Francis Deane doesn't consider himself a hero around the theater, many others do.

"He's definitely a hero. He boosts the moral in any room he's in. He brings sunshine wherever he goes," said Warwick-White.

Whether he's on stage or behind the scenes, he enjoys giving back to his community and putting smiles on faces in the audience.

"A Christmas Carol" kicks off Friday November 22, 2013 at the Four County Players in Barboursville.
