Students and faculty members from the University of Virginia were chanting outside of Madison Hall Wednesday to bring awareness to the living wage campaign.
Students gave a list of demands to University administrators, which included every employee be guaranteed a living wage, job security and have safe working conditions.
"We interact with the people that this demand directly affects on a daily basis," said graduate student Ajay Chandra.
More than 300 faculty and staff showed their support for the living wage campaign by signing a petition.
"I think it's a matter of social and economic justice. We claim to be a caring community here and that means that really all UVa employees should be fairly compensated for their work," said Cynthia Hoehler-Fatton, an associate professor of religious studies.
Students say if UVa doesn't address their concerns by Feb. 17, they will publicize the wages and employment practices at the University.

Just becaus you ask. Still if they think it is better outside UVA... Go! I think most stay because it is a stable environment and the pay is very competitive.
You're always free to ask for a raise. You've been educated.
No matter what you say. Even if you are aggressive with education saving promotions. We need someone to mop the floor, wash the dishes, pick the lettuce. The sad fact is not everyone want to better themselves.
