HANOVER, Va. (AP) - A Hanover County woman has received a suspended sentence and a fine stemming from a traffic accident that killed a Virginia State Police trooper.
State police say 27-year-old Angelica C. Valencia of Doswell was driving an SUV that struck Trooper Andrew C. Fox as he was directing traffic on Oct. 5, 2012, outside the State Fair of Virginia.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/WcjH90 ) reports that Valencia pleaded no contest to reckless driving last week in Hanover General District Court.
She received a one-year jail sentence that was suspended and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine.
