The Virginia Economic Eevelopers Association (VEDA) hosted its annual Spring conference this morning.
Members met at the Omni hotel in downtown Charlottesville to discuss how to get "back to the basics" of economic development.
The two main goals were community branding and performance management within their communities.
Panels focused on defining and communicating a community's unique brand and the science and art behind measuring what matters in today's economic landscape.
"It's a great opportunity for us to get together with our peers from across the state and talk about the things that are really emerging in the area of economic vitality and the best practices and things we can do to make sure that our community is working towards a strong economy," says Lee Catlin from Albemarle County.
Both Albemarle Co. and the city of Charlottesville were sponsors of the event.
And gubernatorial candidates, Ken Cuccinelli and Terry McAuliffe also spoke at the event, discussing their economic plans for the state of Virginia.
