Tigers Hand Cavs Sixth Straight Loss

The Virginia football team had its losing streak extended to six games, falling 59-10 to No. 8 Clemson Saturday at Scott Stadium.

Tajh Boyd threw three touchdown passes for Clemson and became the ACC's career leader in total touchdowns with a 33-yard pass to Sammy Watkins in the first quarter. The Tigers improve to 8-1 on the season and 6-1 in the ACC. The Cavaliers fall to 2-6 overall and 0-5 in the conference.

UVa tied the game at 7-7 in the first quarter on a David Watford quarterback keeper from 6 yards out. The Tigers responded on the next drive, with a 75-yard drive capped off by a C.J. Davidson's 2-yard run. Clemson extended the lead to 21-7 on a 10-yard touchdown pass from Boyd to Roderick McDowell in the second quarter.

The Tigers scored twice in the final 1:29 of the first half to take a 35-7 lead into halftime. They outscored the Cavaliers 24-3 in the second half on their way to the 59-10 victory.

UVa quarterback David Watford finished the game 16-of-35 for 130 yards and one interception. Kevin parks had 82 rushing yards for the 'Hoos in the loss, while freshman Keeon Johnson led the team in receiving yards with 77.

The Cavaliers will try to snap a six-game losing streak on the road in Chapel Hill next Saturday. Kick-off between North Carolina and UVa is set for 12:30 p.m.
