Travelling Through CHO for Thanksgiving

Nov. 27, 2013

It's one of the busiest travel days of the year and people are hitting the roads, trains and planes to get across the country for the holiday weekend.

Forty-three million Americans are traveling this weekend, and many of them are taking to the sky to fly across the country.

At the Charlottesville Albemarle Airport (CHO), passengers arrived early Wednesday morning in anticipation of the day ahead.

"We're traveling with two kids, so we are pretty much stocked and ready for any travel contingency," said Lisa Stewart, holiday traveler.

Many were concerned over the winter weather that is impacting the east coast, canceling hundreds of flights and leaving passengers stranded.

While all the flights into and out of CHO were on time this morning, some passengers ran into travel troubles.

Abigail Sewell was flying home for Thanksgiving after her first semester of college, but has to change plans and plane because of the weather.

“Once you start running through the airport your inhibitions are out the door. You're like I'm gotta make this flight.”

But in the end, passengers say it is all worth it.

It is strongly encouraged to anyone traveling this weekend to leave extra time to get through airport security. Also, check with your carrier for your flight status.
