The University of Virginia's Board of Visitors approved a 3.8 percent tuition hike for in-state students and 4.8 percent for out-of-state students.

That means in-state students will pay $12,458 and out-of-state students will pay $39,844.

These increases are above the core rate of inflation, which was just one-tenth of a percent in March.

Students calling for a living wage for contract employees attempted to interrupt the board meeting but were stopped by campus police. We are told a few students who were let in were eventually kicked out after yelling during the meeting.
