The Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce will present area businesspersons and civic leaders, Carolyn Cullen and Toan Nguyen, the 2013 Chamber Volunteers Award.
The presentation will be made during the Chamber’s 2013 Commonwealth Breakfast at Farmington County Club, at which more 150 business and civic leaders are expected to attend.
“We are pleased to honor both Carolyn Cullen and Toan Nguyen with our 2013 Chamber Volunteers Award for their dedicated efforts on behalf of our Chamber of Commerce – notably the Chamber Business Women’s Round Table and Leadership Charlottesville – as well as our Greater Charlottesville community,” said Patricia L. Cluff, Associate Vice President at the University of Virginia Health System, Attorneys, Immediate Past Chair of the Chamber Board (2012), and Chair of the Chamber Awards Recognitions Committee. “These two individuals are outstanding Chamber volunteers and citizens.”
Carolyn Cullen is the Regional Advertising Director for The Daily Progress and the Central Virginia Media Group.
Ms. Cullen joined the Chamber’s Quadruplicity planning committee for the first conference in 2007, co-chairing the marketing committee that year and for every conference since. For Quadruplicity- 2013, she also chaired the “Q Award” committee, which met for nearly a year to develop the concept and roll out of this new Chamber award. Ms. Cullen serves on the Chamber Business Women’s Round Table Executive Committee as the Mentoring Program Chairperson, which is also a new endeavor that she has led.
Toan Nguyen, the founder & owner of C’ville Coffee, helped to create The Community Investment Collaborative (CIC), a micro-lending institution in Charlottesville that provides business training, loans, and mentoring to minorities and formerly incarcerated individuals.
He serves in several community organizations, including: as a Board member of the Leadership Charlottesville Alumni Association; Vice President of the Charlottesville Albemarle Technical Education Center (CATEC) Foundation Board; the Piedmont Council for the Arts’ Create Charlottesville Cultural Planning steering committee; the 2013 Biotech Summit steering committee; and, the Community Attention Youth Internship Program.

The annual Chamber Volunteer Award was established in 1998 to honor Chamber member volunteers who made outstanding contributions to the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce.
