University of Virginia Health System leaders provided an open house for people to walk around and tour the new UVa Primary and Specialty Care Clinic. The new facility is in the UVa Medical Park in Zion Crossroads and will be available for patients living east of the Charlottesville area.
The 46,000 square-foot building houses 18 exam rooms, 7 technical rooms, 28 physicians and more than 20 staff members.
There will be specialty care for patients as well as two providers available for primary care for families and children.
The goal of the new facility is to bring care close to the counties of Orange, Fluvanna, Louisa and eastern Albemarle.
"This idea is bringing all of the primary and specialist together so that patients can go do their primary care and if they need a referral to a specialist they can do it very easily,” says Dr. Nancy Dunlap, Dean of the School of Medicine at UVa. “Physicians can work together to make sure the care is coordinated and that they have the tools they need to diagnose and treat patients in the community."
The new facility is a part of the health system's outreach program that provides clinics in the community where people live.
The clinic officially opens next Monday, August 26th and is located at 1015 Spring Creek Parkway off U.S. Route 15 in Louisa County. It will be open Mon-Fri. from 8 AM to 5 PM. The imaging facility will stay open from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
Specialty care includes:
- Breast Care
- Obstetrics & Gynecology
- Orthopedics - adult and pediatric
- Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation
- Spine Care
- Sports Medicine
- Vascular Care
- Mammography (Digital and 3D)
- Digital X-Ray
