People at UVa have started a conversation about gender violence in our area.
It was standing room only at Thursday night's discussion on UVa grounds.
President Teresa Sullivan talked about the school's personal experiences with gender violence, like the death of Yeardley Love, and the disappearance and death of Morgan Harrington.
Even though it was a university event, several local prosecutors came out to show community support.
"Really creating that community of support for survivors of sexual violence and really creating an open dialogue," said Amelia Nemitz, a UVa sutdent. "A community that's willing to talk about issues like sexual violence and willing to let survivors know that they are not alone."
School officials say they hope this discussion will help shape future policy on grounds.
