UVa, Miller Center Mourn Death of Former Director

The Miller Center and the University of Virginia community are mourning the loss of a former, longtime director.

Dr. Kenneth Thompson died on Feb. 2 at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Albemarle County. He was 91.

Thompson was director of the Miller Center starting in the 1970s until his retirement in 1998. He continued to host forums at the center until 2004.

Thompson is credited with bringing the Miller Center to national prominence.

A public memorial service is currently being planned.
