The University of Virginia community held a rally and vigil to end sexual violence.
Students rallied and walked through UVa. grounds to a candlelight vigil where victims of assault shared their stories.
The rally and vigil are part of the annual Take Back The Night, which aims to end sexual violence on college campuses.
An organizer for the event, Emilee Kiesel, says both the vigil and walk spread awareness of sexual assault.
"Showing awareness for sexual assault and how prevalent it is. And then the vigil is important because you hear survivor stories of how they healed and how they are healing through the process and sort of get a feel that these are real stories."
Organizers say the events also teach “bystander awareness”, such as being aware if your friend is walking alone.
