Ahead of Thursday night's home football game at the University of Virginia, officials want students to pledge to "Remember the Game."
Hundreds of flags on UVa.'s Lawn represent fourth-year students who signed the Remember the Game pledge. It's an effort to prevent the so-called fourth-year fifth, where students attempt to drink a fifth of alcohol on the final home game of the season.
Hundreds of students have already signed the pledge from the Gordie Center for Substance Abuse Prevention.
"It's this sense of, the last home game, make it one that you remember, especially with the great win we had on Saturday, and we really want to remind students how important it is not to have too much, to make sure you remember the game and always have a good plan," said Susan Bruce, the Gordie Center's director.
The pledge is a student-driven initiative, largely funded by the UVa. Parents' Committee.
