VSP Investigates Fatal Fluvanna Co. Crash

Virginia State Police are investigating the cause of a Friday night crash that left a Charlottesville man dead.

The crash happened Friday night around 5:15 p.m. on Route 250 just east of Route 676.

Police say 52-year-old Thomas Jakubowski of Charlottesville was driving westbound on Route 250 when he crossed the center line, sideswiping a Ford pickup and hitting a GMC truck head-on.

Jakubowski was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries Friday night.

The driver of the GMC truck, 36-year-old Dimas Cornejo-Lobato of Henrico, is in the hospital being treated for serious injuries. The driver of the Ford pickup truck was not injured in the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
