Va. Tech Shooting Survivor Speaks at Anti-Gun Rally

January 26, 2013

A survivor of the Virginia Tech shooting massacre in 2007 spoke in support of a federal ban of assault weapons Saturday at a march in Washington, DC.

Many survivors and families of the victims from Virginia Tech have been speaking out since the Connecticut school shooting in December.

Some joined the thousands in Washington at an organized march and rally, pushing for stricter gun laws.

Colin Goddard was shot four times during the Virginia Tech massacre. He said he was marching because these shooting incidents continue to happen.

"We will get the change we so badly need," Goddard told the crowd. "In the weeks ahead, I want every one of you to ask your congressmen and senators, 'Which part of the background check will take away your guns?' We need to challenge them."

A gunman shot and killed 32 people and injured 17 others on the Blacksburg campus nearly six years ago.
